This 1980s Tahoe cabin is transformed from drab to fab, thanks to designers Mat Sanders and Brandon Quattrone of Consort. Formerly a taupy-brown rustic rut, the designers decided to give this vacation home a chic and modern makeover. Let's see how it is done, shall we?

Classic rustic elements such as the natural stone fireplace and chunky wood beams are juxtaposed against modern furniture and patterns to create a fresh and an interesting dynamic. One of the rooms is given a bold, tone-on-tone treatment to achieve an intimate den vibe. Rustic touches are incorporated throughout the cabin to pay homage to its original design. By combining eclectic furnishings, a myriad of styles and using blue as the common thread, this cabin looks effortlessly delightful and pulled together, don't you think? What are your thoughts?
Like it very much--the combo of styles is a refreshing break from the all-rustic look that many of these mountain vacation homes possess. The one thing I dislike is the candle bedside light without a shade. My all-time bugaboo about beds is insufficient lighting for reading, albeit a hotel or home. And without a shade it feels bare--to my mind. Thank you for posting!
ReplyDeleteWelcoming and cozy! All the elements "fit" perfectly. Love the cowhide ottomans.
